I am happy to say that I sold the painting called Demiurge in the Steampunk show at Cottonwood. Really surprised me and guess should have asked more for it. I need to listen to people when they tell me how cool my work is, but I have shyness about it.
A photo of the painting is on this blog date 12/9/11.

new painting and piece in show

I have a painting in a steampunk/outsider show. I was thinking steampunk when making it. A gear was evolving, and I canned it instead of going with it and finishing it. So when I get it back in July I'll put the gear in.
My sister said that my last painting was too opaque so this new one is much lighter -so far. Here is a early pic of it. Isn't too hot in the studio yet. But the noise bad.

the dark tree

Walking by this tree on purpose everyday. It kinda grabs me, its a curious. Like a poem by ? "something dark applauds inside me" Am absorbing these trees for 6  months. I didn't want to do this tree because its Gothic. So I better paint this big tree after all because my feelings are all goofed up over the Boston murders. Ill do it. It's blue and I don't like working with blue because it gets everywhere and it takes over my studio. Ill do a cad yellow deep under it. The light that walks along the evil way. Runners are precious. At the most American of races. Yes I love my country. I don't want it to go down, but am just happy I got to live here when it was a good dream breathing. I'll call this painting "the sorrow of demised myths". Maybe I don't really want to be an ex-pat.

imagine

Imagining a studio that is mine for working in everyday all day. Last weekend went to Georgia O'Keefe show in Denver. I couldn't believe her. She must have been the most meticulous painter ever. Awesome exquisite painter. Sneaky color. The painting of my old print wasn't there. Kinda like the Van Gogh it was a real progression of her life and work. She's almost a cliche but now I am reminded of her tenacity and her talent.

snake dream

A snake bit me in my dream last night. One time in college I had a snake bite dream, both times was on the right hand. In college I drew a picture of it, a fish-like snake biting me. The new dreamsnake was 20 ft long and 10 inches wide, it was beautiful, white with elegant markings, not geometric, but arabesque-like organic designs. It followed me up to a high temple and bit me on the hand when we got to the top. It was such sacred thing. I won't display it but I could it was so symbolic and intense.

Van Gogh exhibit

Saw the world exclusive "Becoming Van Gogh" exhibit in Denver last weekend. I knew about the power of ochre and magenta, and now I now about orange and green too. There was one he did right before he died that is two people standing back in a wood. Staring at the viewer. It is the same image that I came up with in my "Hermaphrodite". And saw it at the Kirkland museum too.

another painting from the past

this is the final painting of my last marriage. it was a golfing portrait, but the club has another meaning.
